A RUNNER-UP KIND OF WEEKEND

A RUNNER-UP KIND OF WEEKEND

Dear Race Fans,

6/5/02 - It was a runner-up kind of weekend this past weekend as we had two strong second place finishes over the weekend. On Friday afternoon, David raced at Sugar Creek where only six cars showed up for the race. For qualifying David grabbed the pole position over Shawn Chastain. Then for the thirty lap feature, David and Chastain had to start the race three separate times before the race got under way. For the first green lap David had the lead with Chastain in tow. Then on the second lap, David's car slid up the track in turn one leaving the door open down low for Chastain to get by. David would then follow Chastain to a second place finish.

Then on Saturday night the team went to North Georgia to try and make it two in a row. For qualifying, David only completed one lap but the lap was good enough for the pole with a 13.33 as Kevin Gibson had a 13.64 to qualify second.

Then for the main event the first start ended in a turn three crash for several drivers. On the second start things went smoother with David taking the initial lead. David would lead the race for the first 15 laps before John Jones began pressuring David. Jones continued to hit David in the rear for several laps before passing David on the high side. David then followed Jones to the end of the race for his second runner-up finish of the weekend.

This weekend David will be racing at Stateline on Friday and North Georgia on Saturday.
