RETURN TO VICTORY LANE FOR FIRST WIN OF 2002

8 WEEK DIAPPEARANCE YEILDS FIRST WIN OF 2002

(Chatsworth, Ga.) - Having just gotten the motor in the night before, David and the rest of us returned to the track with uncertainty. It had been nearly two months since David's last race where he blowed the only motor we had to race. However, all doubt was laid to rest once David hit the racetrack for hot laps.

During hot laps David turned some of the fastest laps of anybody there. Then David backed that up by setting fast time during qualifying with a lap of 13.29, which gave him the pole position for the 40-lap special event.

For the main event it would take two different starts to get the race going. Each time David had to fall behind outside starter, Rick Holland. Following green flag racing, David began to eat Holland's bumper up. Then while running right with Holland, Holland's car began to smoke heavily. The caution flew for Holland and David gained the lead. From that point on while battling overheating problems during the entire race, David would open up over a straightaway lead over the field.

David held on with ease without any threat from others to pick up his first win of 2002 and the $2,000 paycheck.
