PAYNE CAPTURES THIRD WIN OF SEASON

6/22/99

Chatsworth, Ga. ö David Payne captured his third win of the season at North Georgia Speedway Saturday night. The win was less than easy for David as he had to overcome a couple of obstacles.

After qualifying David found himself on the outside pole beside previous winner Mike Lee. On the initial start of the feature event, Payne started with leader Lee. The yellow flag immediately flew. The track officials claimed that both front-runners jumped the start. Never heard of in dirt racing, because one car starts the race. After a long caution both front row starters were sent back one row. Polesitter Lee pulled his car into the pits and David stayed on the track and started in the fourth spot.

On the next start, David was able to get by the third place car and would run in the third spot until the front two runners crashed going into turn three. David then inherited the lead and would never look back as he took his third win of the season, marking his best season yet to this point.
